Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, traces its history back to 1884 when it served as a primary school for Native American children. Since then it has evolved to become a four-year institution offering associate and bachelor's degrees through its colleges of arts and sciences and education. It offers arts and science degree programs in mathematics, English, environmental science, theater and American Indian studies, which lets students engage in interdisciplinary studies leading to a baccalaureate degree.
The school of education offers an associate degree program in para-professional education and a bachelor's degree in elementary education. The school also has a working relationship with the University of Kansas that allows students to take a number of cooperative programs through both schools.

Navajo Technical College in Crownpoint, New Mexico offers both academic and various technical programs for students of all kinds. Ilisagvik College, Alaska, takes its name from the Inupiaq Eskimo word "Ilisagvik," which means "a place to learn." The school offers associate degrees and technical programs in a variety of academic and vocational fields and an adult education program for those needing to obtain their GED.
General studies candidates will find an associate of arts degree and applied science degrees are available in allied health, business and emergency services. Certificate programs include heavy equipment operations, emergency services, information technology and accounting.
