Biomedical equipment certificate programs are offered through community colleges and vocational schools. They take one to two semesters to complete and provide you with the basic skills necessary to fix medical electronic equipment, medical hydraulic equipment and medical mechanical systems.
A two-year associate's degree program in biomedical equipment contains the same practical courses as a certificate program in the field. Students are expected to complete general education courses as well as courses in circuitry, physics and electronics.
Some universities and colleges offer four-year degree programs in biomedical technology for students who are interested in working with the sophisticated equipment within hospital laboratories.
