Each trainee requires either a laptop or desktop computer installed with a suitable operating system and appropriate training software. Computers should be linked to a central server, and have a surge protection system. If computers are Internet-accessible, virus protection software is essential. Trainees should be supplied with headphones and provided access to at least one printer.
Either individual desks or long office tables are required, which must comply with relevant health and safety regulations. Chairs should be adjustable and provide adequate back support. A shelving system may be required for storage of training resources.
A desk and chair and/or lectern are required for the trainer's use. A filing cabinet might also be needed for storing records. If some traditional teaching is to take place, a projector and screen, whiteboard, flip chart, DVD player and television would be useful.
A security system with locks, alarm and window bars should be installed to protect the equipment. Fire-fighting equipment is also essential. Suitable lighting and ventilation systems are required to meet health and safety regulations.
