Cardiovascular Technology Training. Inc. (CTT) is just north of New Orleans and offers programs in both cardiovascular technology as well as medical assisting. Louisiana State University (LSU) also has a program at both its New Orleans and Shreveport locations.
The program at LSU is in the Cardiopulmonary Science division of the school of Allied Health. In addition to taking general medical classes, like anatomy, students can be trained in specialties, such as cardiovascular ultrasound. CTT has courses in medical basics and also offers hands-on training in electrocardiograms and echo-cardiograms.
LSU offers a bachelor's program in Cardiopulmonary Science, which includes training to become a cardiovascular technician. The program takes about four years to complete. The program at CTT offers a diploma in Cardiovascular Technology specifically, which takes 24 months to complete.
