Earlham College is an independent, coeducational, four-year residential institution of higher learning. The college was founded by Quakers in 1847 and continues to stress the importance of global education, equality of persons, high moral standards in personal conduct and peaceful resolution of conflict. According to the college's website, the students of Earlham are some of the country's academically strongest in the liberal arts.
Albright Collegiate Institute was founded in 1895 by the Evangelical Association. Albright continues to adhere to the principles and ideals of the United Methodist Church. The college's curriculum is liberal-arts-based and science-based with an interdisciplinary focus--with around half of Albright's students choosing to combine two or three fields of study.
Eckerd College is a private, coeducational college of sciences and liberal arts that was founded in 1958. Its varied courses include environmental studies, marine science, international relations, creative writing and civic engagement. Southwestern Christian College is a four-year higher education institute. The college was founded by members of Churches of Christ in 1949, and continues to receive sponsorship from them. It offers associate-level and bachelor's-level degrees within the context of a commitment to Christian spiritual and moral values.
