Familiarize yourself with the catalog for the school to which you are transferring. Most schools will have a section addressing the conversion equation between semester and quarter hours.
Quarter hours can easily be converted to semester hours by using a simple math equation. Semester hours is equal to quarter hours divided by 1.5. In other words, quarter hours translate into semester hours at the value of 1 quarter hour per 2/3 semester hours. The math looks like this: Semester hours=quarter hours/1.5. An example: 5 quarter hours is equal to 3.33 semester hours.
Check your math with an academic adviser and retain the information for your file so you can double-check your transcript after the official transfer has taken place.
