North Carolina Grad Schools

Continue your college studies at one of North Carolina's many graduate schools. Find the graduate school with a focus on your area of specialty at either a state or private school. More than 30 colleges in the state offer graduate school programs, including both master's and doctoral level degrees.
  1. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

    • The University of North Carolina system includes 16 campuses. Earn a master's degree at the main campus at Chapel Hill in one of 107 areas; doctorate degrees are offered in 67 areas. Study areas include law, medicine, foreign language, dentistry, public administration, education, nursing, social work and the arts, among others. As of 2011, the application deadline for the fall semester is mid-June of each year.

    Wake Forest University

    • The graduate school at Wake Forest University, located in Winston-Salem, continues to add degrees and innovations to its offerings, including bioethics in 2009 and documentary film in 2010. New Ph.D. students in the sciences are enrolled in one of seven tracks, each focusing on a specific area of research in the physical, biomedical or biological sciences. Earn a postgraduate degree in numerous courses of study, including chemistry, communications, health and exercise science, psychology, history and education. As of 2011, application deadlines are mid-January for master's candidates and mid-December for doctoral candidates.

    Duke University

    • Duke University in Durham offers a wide range of graduate degrees at the master's and doctoral levels in almost 60 departments. Study areas include immunology, cell biology, mathematics, English, pharmacology, physics and environmental policy. Duke's graduate programs encourage interdisciplinary research between the university's nine schools, especially in medical areas. As of 2011, the deadline for admission for the fall semester is mid-November; candidates for a Ph.D. should submit applications by mid-December.

    North Carolina State University

    • North Carolina State University in Raleigh is the state's largest university in terms of enrollment, with more than 23,000 taking classes in 2011. N.C. State's graduate school offers more than 220 master's and doctorate degrees in diverse areas such as accounting, psychology, microbiology, special education, history and entomology. The deadline for application for a master's or doctorate program is mid-June as of 2011.
