Beaufort, North Carolina has two day cares, two Christian-affiliated schools, and one public elementary schools that offers pre-kindergarten classes. The only public high school in Beaufort is East Carteret High School, which is the largest school in the area at 650 students and offers classes from the ninth to the 12th grade. The East Carteret High School mascot is the Mariner, and it offers its students sports such as football, volleyball, boy's and girl's soccer, boy's and girl's tennis, boys and girl's golf, cross country, cheerleading, wrestling, boy's and girl's basketball, track and field, baseball and softball.
