Instructions

    • 1

Find the copyright information for each source used. For standard books, the required information for citations will be located in the inside copyright page. For other types of sources, such as journals and magazines, necessary information may be elsewhere.

    • 2

Create a Works Cited page with 1-inch margins, double-spacing and 12-point Times New Roman font like the rest of an MLA paper. Title it "Works Cited" at the top center of the page. Under the title, list sources in alphabetical order.

    • 3

Format each entry on the page. Format citations for books as: Author. Title of Book. City of Publication: Publisher, Year. Type the author's name in Last Name, First Name order.

For a journal article, format varies slightly: Author. "Title of Article." Title of Magazine Date: Page(s).
