Postgraduate courses or degrees in construction, especially construction management, offer students the opportunity to obtain higher positions in the field.     • Drexel University Online offers a Master's in Construction Management. The program's main goal is to provide working professionals with advanced skills. You can choose from three main concentration areas, including real estate development, construction project management and sustainability and green construction. You learn the business skills needed to direct others and to respond to owner or client needs. Faculty members have experience in both private and public sector construction. This is an online program, and you can take classes on a part-time basis. Generally, students complete the program in approximately two years.

    ASU

    • The Arizona State University Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering offer students the opportunity to pursue a Master of Science, Master of Science in Engineering or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). You can take classes either on campus or online, and you can select either a thesis or non-thesis option Master of Science program. All students must pass a final oral exam. Master of Science coursework includes construction project management productivity and financial control. Ph.D. courses include project delivery analysis, construction informatics and sustainable construction. You must also take elective courses such as facility management fundamentals, development feasibility reports or advanced procurement systems.

    Purdue

    • The Purdue University's Department of Building Construction Management has two Master's degree programs in construction management. You must already have a Bachelor's degree or have experience in the field. You must also pass the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The traditional classroom Master's degree program requires students to come to class to complete coursework. The distance learning Master's degree program is only for working professionals who wish to pursue higher positions in their field. You must have a minimum of five years of construction management experience. Coursework includes construction manager law, academic writing and principles of leadership.

    Western Carolina

    • The Master of Construction Management program offered by Western Carolina University accepts about 30 students per year, and it takes about two years to complete the program. You can complete and submit coursework online, and the program is for working professionals. Coursework includes project plan development and analysis, construction management and marketing and development.
