Look on the state's teacher certification website for any study materials available through the testing certification group. Every state has slight differences for requirements and information about the tests, so it is important to look at the specific state site. The tests are given through Pearson Inc. but separated by state.
Read through any materials given in your education courses. Most education courses at the college level will have the basic skills test information in the books or study materials.
Practice your math skills. The tests do not allow the use of a calculator, so it is important to take time to practice figuring out the addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, integers, percentages and proportions beforehand.
Take practice tests. There are practice tests available on the state website. Some programs available online for study guides also offer practice tests, but these often require paying for the tests, depending on the program. Practice is the key to studying for any of the sections on the test.
