Get a copy of the AEPA study guides. There are two ways to accomplish this. Download or print out the study guides from the AEPA website. The study guides can also be ordered, for $6 each as of May, 2010, by printing the order form and mailing it to the address provided.
Schedule regular study time of at least one hour every day for a month leading up to the test. A scheduled study time will keep you focused. Schedule the time when you know you will be well rested, alert and there won't be any distractions.
Use a study partner or form a study group with other people that will be taking the AEPA.
Use the study guides to determine what information the test will cover. Read the list of test objectives and each description in the study guide. If you have a weak area, start with the test objective that covers the area of weakness. The test objectives are divided into subareas which define the content of the test objective. Generally more subareas within an objective will represent how much it is covered in the test.
Answer the practice questions from each objective. Time yourself so that you get an idea of how long it will take you to complete the actual test. Use the answer key to check your answers. Record the questions that you missed and focus on them in future studying.
Read the written response booklet of the study guide and review the sample answer sheets. The answer sheets will give you an idea of what a well written response looks like.
Relax and get a good night's rest before the day of the test. Arrive early on test day; you may not get in if you are late.
