ECL covers many different aspects of the automotive industry. Its main focus is automotive repair, but it also offers additional instruction in customer service and sales. ECL also offers some additional training in automotive management. EMTEC has been providing services for more than 25 years and has an ongoing partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry. The school offers classes in various areas around the globe and has over 60,000 students worldwide. ECL's focus is on the development of new colleges and schools to provide training and improvement for even more automotive industry professionals.
EMTEC provides awards, certificates and diplomas in nine different areas. Awards are the lowest-level of credential provided by ECL. These are in the areas of vehicle maintenance repair, auto body repair, auto body refinishing, vehicle fitting and specialty tire vehicle fitting. Certificates are also available in each of these areas as well as certificates in vehicle parts, vehicle sales and customer service. Students can obtain diplomas in each of these and in the field of automotive management.
EMTEC's purpose in the automotive industry is to provide high quality training to automotive professionals to help companies ensure quality assurance. Companies can use EMTEC's training to attract higher quality employees attracted by the qualifications they can obtain and the opportunities for advancement later on. EMTEC notes that its intention is to only offer its programs to a select number of existing schools so that it does not saturate the market with training facilities. Instead, it intends to remain competitive with other training schools.
In 2009, EMTEC began exploring the establishment of schools in China. EMTEC officials met with the British Consulate General and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). The purpose of the meeting was to explore the potential of the Chinese automotive training industry market. EMTEC also hoped to facilitate business meetings and establish potential networking contacts in China to keep the company moving forward.
