Chapman University is one of the oldest private universities in California. It was founded in 1861 and is located in Orange, California. The Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, part of the university, offers film students many choices when it comes to degrees in film. A Bachelor of Fine Arts in film production offers an overview of the filmmaking process, with courses in screenwriting, directing, audio techniques and production all acting as requirements. Greenville College, in Greenville, Illinois, was founded in 1892. It is a four-year college offering a liberal arts education to over 1600 students annually. One of the degrees offered here is in digital media. One of four tracks chosen in this major is film. Core courses include graphic design, digital video, audio engineering and a general course on light, sound and motion. The college offers use of computers, film editing equipment and digital cameras to students. In addition, cameras, lighting gear, sound equipment and a green screen are available. All students are eligible to apply to participate in the Los Angeles Film Studies Center program, which is a summer program put on by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities that combines issues of faith in Hollywood with hands-on filmmaking experience.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college in Huntington, Indiana. It has over 70 academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate and pre-professional level. One of these is the film production program in the digital media arts department, which also includes a film studies and animation program. The film production major offers a Bachelor of Science degree and focuses mainly on classes that teach the craft of filmmaking, while the film studies program teaches students to think critically about film. It offers a Bachelor of Arts degree and has a foreign language requirement. Courses in these programs include professional screenwriting, motion picture production and theology in Hollywood.
George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, offers more than 40 undergraduate programs, including a cinema and media communications major. Five concentrations are available in the major, including one for film studies and one for production.
