San Francisco State's Digital Media Production program provides classes in video, audio and 3D tools, and the school is also the certified training center for Apple, Adobe and Avid/Digidesign. Digital Media academic hours can go toward a bachelor’s degree or toward the required 300 hours necessary for a certificate given by the school's Extended Learning’s Multimedia Studies Program (MSP). Students may also participate as lab interns to earn credits toward their certifications or degrees.

The Media Production Center of Columbia College in Chicago was opened in February 2010 and was built and designed specifically for the purpose of providing media production training and instruction. Students obtain hands-on training in a studio setting and acquire experience in all phases of video production. The 21-month program offers student an associate's degree and incorporates video editing, motion graphics, scripting and storyboarding, as well as a thorough introduction to the industry's equipment and technologies.
