Founded in 1972, George Mason has become one of the largest of Virginia's colleges and universities. The main campus is located in Fairfax, Virginia, but the college has three additional campuses: Arlington, Prince William and Mason in Loudon. George Mason offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines including public policy, information technology and engineering, economics, visual and performing arts, law, conflict resolution and life sciences.
Located in Ashburn, the Science and Technology Campus of George Washington University is close to Washington Dulles International Airport. This campus was founded in 1991 and offers two undergraduate degrees: a bachelor's of science in health sciences (pharmacogenomics) and a bachelor's of science in nursing. Situated halfway between Washington, D.C., and Richmond, the University of Mary Washington was the only college in the Virginia, D.C. and Maryland region to be designated by the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2011 as a "Best Buy School." Mary Washington offers over 30 undergraduate majors and five graduate degrees between its two campuses in Fredericksburg and Stafford County.
