The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science has been training students in the funeral services business since 1882. The college provides students the opportunity to gain experience with an on-site embalming laboratory and a restorative arts curriculum. The college also provides students with practical courses in funeral direction, counseling and marketing. Students can choose between an associate's degree in applied science or a bachelor's degree in mortuary science. The college is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education, Inc.
Since 1946, John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee, has been training students in the art of funeral direction and mortuary sciences. Students will graduate from the college with an associate of arts degree in funeral science. The degree takes a year and four months to complete, with a total of 62 semester hours required to graduate. Students also have the opportunity to earn a funeral directors certificate. Students working on that certificate are required to complete a total of 21 semester hours and must take the National Board Exam to graduate.
Pierce Mortuary Colleges offers locations in Texas, Indiana and Georgia. The college has been training students in the business of funeral direction since 1957. All branches of the college are accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education, Inc. With a combination of classroom instruction and practical experience, the college prepares students to enter the field of funeral direction. Students have the opportunity to complete classroom course work in a face-to-face setting or on-line. Students will graduate with a professional funeral service license in the state of their training.
Founded in 1911 in Wheeling, Illinois, the Worsham College Mortuary Science program graduates students with associate's degrees in mortuary science. Both the diploma and degree program offered by Worsham College are accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. The program is approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Department of Professional Regulations, the State Approving Agency for the Training of Veterans, the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and the U.S. Department of Justice for the Training of Foreign Students.
