In the metro area of Minneapolis, there are dozens of state colleges and universities, including Metropolitan State University. State colleges in Minneapolis include North Hennepin in Brooklyn Park, Anoka-Ramsey in Coon Rapids, Saint Paul, Inver Hills in Inver Grove Heights, Normandale College in Bloomington and Dakota County Tech in Rosemount.
St. Cloud State University and St. Cloud Tech are both located in St. Cloud. Anoka-Ramsey in Cambridge is another public college just south of Pine City, which has Pine Technical College. Central Lakes has two campuses in central Minnesota, including one in Brainerd and Staples. Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is located in Cloquet, near Lake Superior Community College in Duluth.
In south Minnesota, outside of Minneapolis, there are even more state colleges including Southeast Tech in Red Wing and South Central College with campuses in Faribault and North Mankato. Southeast Tech and Winona State University sit in the southern tip of Minnesota. Riverland College has campuses in Astin, Albert Lea and Owatonna. Minnesota West Community and Technical Collage has three colleges in southern Minnesota including Worthington, Jackson and Pipestone.
In northwest Minnesota, there are fewer colleges, but you will still find Minnesota State University at Moorhead as well as Minnesota State Community and Technical College, which has campuses in Fergus Falls, Wadena and Detroit Lakes. Higher up in East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls, Northland College provides public education for college students as well. Northwest Tech and Bemidji State University are located in Bemidji, with Itasca College nearby in Grand Rapids.
In the upper northeastern tip of Minnesota, several colleges offer public education to college students, including Hibbing Community College in Hibbing, Mesabi Range Community College in Eveleth as well as Virginia, and Vermilion Community College in Ely. Far north, Rainy River Community college is in International Falls.
