Bismarck State College is part of the North Dakota University system. It's a two-year community college where students can earn an Associate of Arts degree or an Associate of Science degree. It features about 40 programs that can also lead to certificates and diplomas. The school also has online programs that can lead to a certificate of completion, program certificate, or associate degree as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science in energy management. Some bachelor's degrees and several graduate programs are offered on campus in cooperation with other North Dakota University System institutions. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. As of 2011, it has a student body of more than 4,000 students.
The Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery established the University of Mary in 1954 as a two-year school. It became a four-year degree-granting school in 1959 and achieved university status in 1986. It is the only private, Catholic university in North Dakota. It offers 44 majors that range from accounting to theology. Students can obtain master's degrees in nursing, education, business administration, counseling, occupational therapy and project management. It also has a Doctor of Physical Therapy program, which began in 2006. The school is accredited by the Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. As of 2011, it boasts a student body of about 2,900 students.
Rasmussen College has campuses in five states, including two in North Dakota, including Fargo and Bismarck. It was founded in 1900 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Bismarck campus is found north of the downtown area just east of State Street and offers a range of degrees both on campus and online. The School of Business and School of Justice Studies offer bachelor's degrees in accounting, business management and criminal justice as well as several associate degree programs. The School of Allied Health and School of Technology and Design has associate degrees in medical administration, medical lab technician and information system management.
United Tribes Technical College is a multicultural educational college owned and operated by tribal people for the benefit of tribal people. The school offers 22 Associate of Applied Science degrees and seven certificates. AAS degrees are completed in about two years, depending on program requirements. Certificates programs can take two or three semesters to complete. Programs include art marketing, computer information technology, criminal justice, elementary education and practical nursing. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredits the programs and all credits are transferable to other tribal and mainstream colleges and universities.
