To study jazz dance at the University of Texas at Dallas, you will need to complete an Art and Performance major. In this program, you will learn the history and performance of your chosen specialization. Courses include dance composition, appreciation, history and conditioning for dancers. In addition to these core classes, you'll need general education courses to complete the Bachelor of Arts degree.
To begin studying jazz dance at the University of Buffalo, you'll need to maintain a grade point average of at least 2.0 and a GPA of 2.5 in the prerequisite courses, in addition to successfully auditioning. In completing the degree program, you'll need to display a proficiency in a language other than English. You can complete this requirement by completing up to 16 credits worth of foreign language classes or an alternative listed in the general educations requirements. While 180 students will apply to this program, the staff only accepts 25 per year.
The University of California's Davis campus offers a jazz dance Bachelor of the Arts degree program. The program requires you to complete courses on the visual aspect of dramatic art, performing arts production management and contemporary dance in addition to your core classes in jazz dance. You'll work closely with a faculty adviser throughout your undergraduate studies and you'll need to be a student at the University of California's Davis Campus before you audition for the jazz dance program.
You have to audition for the University of Alabama's jazz dance degree program. The Department of Theater and Dance also expects students to declare their major formally by their fourth semester. Once accepted into the program, you'll need to complete the major courses with at least a 2.0 GPA. Even if you drop the course, it may effect your overall GPA. Also, you'll have to complete a minor.
