What Colleges Accept GED Graduates

If you have a general equivalency diploma (GED), you may think a college degree is out of reach. This is not the case. Many traditional four-year colleges and universities accept a GED if other admissions requirements, such as minimum standardized test scores, are met. Individual admission requirements vary by institution and specific degree programs.
  1. Bauder College

    • Bauder College in Atlanta offers degree programs in allied health, business, criminal justice, design, paralegal studies and information technology. Students must provide evidence of a high-school diploma, a GED certificate, or a transcript from a home-study program equivalent to a high-school-level education program. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

    California Coast University

    • Established in 1973, California Coast University offers distance-learning degrees through correspondence and online programs. The school requires an attestation form if applicants have only a high-school diploma or GED, and upon admission students are placed in an associate's degree program. Upon completion, students may apply to a baccalaureate degree program. CCU is accredited through the Distance Education and Training Council Accrediting Commission.

    Dickinson State University

    • Dickinson State University in Dickinson, N.D., offers degree programs through the colleges of education, business, applied sciences, and arts and sciences. The university is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission. Applicants must have a high-school diploma or have passed a general equivalency exam. Prospective students are also required to take the ACT test.

    Mayville State University

    • Established in 1889, Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D., is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The school has an annual enrollment of just under 1,000 students, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1. Admission requirements include a high-school diploma, GED and standardized test results. Students receive personal computer tablets for use during their enrollment.
