Illinois has seven NSA-accredited schools: DePaul University and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois State University in Normal, Moraine Valley Community College, and the University of Illinois campuses in Springfield, Champaign-Urbana and Chicago.
Illinois State University's Center for Information Assurance and Security Education program offers bachelor's, master's and graduate certificate programs in information systems. Areas of study include fundamentals of information assurance and security, data communication security and policy, and administration in information assurance and security.
Maryland has 10 NSA-accredited colleges, the most of any state. The institutions are University of Maryland University College in Adelphi, University of Maryland in College Park and Baltimore, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Prince George's Community College in Largo, Hagerstown Community College, Towson University, Capitol College in Laurel and Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.
Johns Hopkins has developed a Master of Science in Security Informatics degree that trains students to become information assurance specialists qualified to work for the NSA and other government agencies. Core classes include statistical methods for intrusion detection, cryptography and coding, network security, theory and computation, theoretical cryptography and secure software engineering.
West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State University in University Park, University of Pittsburgh, Drexel University in Philadelphia, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Indiana University of Pennsylvania are Pennsylvania's seven NSA-accredited colleges.
Penn State University offers bachelor's degrees in security and risk analysis and information sciences and technology. These programs give students a comprehensive knowledge of computer software and hardware that qualifies them for jobs with the government or in private industry.
The nine NSA-accredited colleges in Texas are University of Texas in San Antonio; University of Texas in Dallas, El Paso and San Antonio; University of Houston; University of North Texas in Denton; Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio; Texas A&M University in College Station; and Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
The University of Dallas has established a center for cybersecurity education that grants a master's of business administration degree in Information Assurance, a Master of Science in Information Assurance and a graduate certificate in information assurance. Students are trained in methods to combat computer-based and computer-facilitated threats. Coursework includes such topics as principles of information assurance, cryptography and network security, principles of digital forensics and trusted systems.
