Massage Schools in the Dallas, Texas, Metroplex

The Dallas, Texas, Metroplex is also known as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This area was brought together and marketed as the Metroplex by the North Texas Commission, which is a non-profit consortium of businesses. The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is a large metropolitan area containing several large cities: Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Garland, Plano and Irving. The Metroplex also encompasses numerous smaller cities, towns and suburbs. There are numerous massage schools located within the Metroplex area.
  1. Ke Kino Institute Plano

    • Located in the city of Plano, the Ke Kino Institute provides training in massage therapy. Ke Kino offers a two basic massage therapy training programs, a student clinic, advanced massage training, and continuing education for massage therapists and other health care practitioners. The Ke Kino Massage Academy is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Massage Therapy Licensing Program.

      The Ke Kino Basic Massage Therapy Program offers two options: a 500 hour program and a 570 hour program, with the longer program offering an extended internship. The Clinical Massage Therapy Program consists of 200 classroom hours for therapists who are seeking training to work in a multi-disciplinary health care team environment.

    Texas Massage Institute

    • The Texas Massage Institute has campuses in Plano, Dallas and Fort Worth. Texas Massage Institute's curriculum is endorsed by Associated Bodyworks and Massage Professionals, and the school is approved to accept candidates from the Texas Commission for the Blind, the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and the Private Industry Council.

      This school offers a 300 hour basic program, a 100 hour advanced program providing in-depth training in core areas of practice as well as in specialized techniques, six hour continuing education courses and advanced continuing education workshops. Training is provided in both classroom and clinical settings. This school offers flexible pay-as-you-go payment options.

    HandsOn Therapy

    • HandsOn Therapy is located in Mesquite. This school offers training accredited by numerous bodies such as the Texas Department of Health Services and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

      HandsOn Therapy offers a basic program comprised of 500 hours, which is divided into 450 hours of specific subjects such as Swedish massage followed by 50 hours of internship at the school's clinic. Also available is the master program, which builds upon the training provided in the basic program with an additional 100 hours of specialized coursework and an additional 50 hours of advanced, specialized clinical internship.

    Sterling Health Center

    • Sterling Health Center is located in Dallas. The Sterling Health Center has a basic program of 500 hours offered over the course of five to 10 months, evenings and weekends. The enhanced program is 600 hours and builds upon the basic program. It is offered over a period of 11 to 15 months.

      This school offers advanced courses in medical/oncology or sports massage for an additional 300 hours. Sterling Health Center also offers a number of continuing education courses to assist licensed massage therapists in maintaining their yearly training quota for licensing.

    Parker School of Massage Therapy

    • The Parker School of Massage Therapy is located in Dallas. This school is approved by the Texas Department of Health Services and prepares students for the national examination.

      The Parker School of Massage offers a 600 hour program with classroom and clinical time in areas such as Eastern modalities, myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy. The Parker School of Massage also offers a medical massage advanced training program with an additional 300 hours of training. In addition, they offer continuing education curriculum for licensed massage therapists seeking to meet their yearly training quota.

    ATI Career Training Center

    • Located in Lewisville, the ATI Career Training Center offers a basic massage therapy program that will prepare students to take the state licensing exam in Texas. ATI offers a basic massage therapy program comprised of 500 hours of training, including classroom hours, and 40 hours of clinical internship. ATI also offers a number of continuing education units that are available for students seeking to maintain sufficient training hours to meet their yearly quota for licensing.

    Institute of Bodywork Studies

    • Located in Lewisville, the Institute of Bodywork Studies is approved by the Texas Department of Health Studies.

      The Institute of Bodywork Studies offers a basic massage therapy program consisting of 500 hours of study. The basic massage therapy program offers flexible start dates and times, as well as an accelerated program that can be finished in eight months. The Institute of Bodywork Studies also has a mastery program that consists of 70 additional internship hours.

    Academy of Healing Arts

    • The Academy of Healing Arts is located in Krum. This massage therapy school does not teach basic massage therapy; however, it does offer advanced classes for students who are already licensed massage therapists. Classes are available in advanced topics such as aroma massage, deluxe foot massage with reflexology and medical massage practitioner certification.
