Undergraduate, post-bachelor's, master's, doctoral, professional, specialist and certificate degrees are offered by WSU, with over 400 program options in 13 colleges and schools. Madonna University, located in Livonia, is a private, Catholic four-year university. The university was founded in 1947 and is sponsored by the Felician Sisters of Livonia. The Madonna University campus is situated on 49 acres of wooded land and had an approximate enrollment of 4,500 students as of 2011. As a Catholic institution, the university also includes a campus ministry.
Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) was established in 1967 by the Legislature of the State of Michigan. The college's five campuses are positioned in industrial, rural and metropolitan areas, where a great portion of Michigan's technical and skilled occupations are found. The main campus of WCCCD is in the city of Detroit. The college places a strong emphasis on occupational and career programs, as well as traditional college and university transfer programs.
