What Are the Top Five Teaching Colleges in Michigan?

As of 2010, there are 32 colleges and universities that are approved by the Michigan State Board of Education to prepare future educators and recommend them for teacher certification. Michigan students wishing to pursue a career in teaching can choose from a variety of excellent schools including two universities that are consistently ranked within the top schools for teacher education in the nation. According to the U.S. News and World Report rankings for the best education programs, the following schools have the top teacher education programs in Michigan.

    • U.S. News and World Report ranked Michigan State University number one in the country in the 2011 rankings for its elementary and secondary education graduate programs. It is the 16th consecutive year that the College of Education has held that honor. The College of Education at Michigan State University offers graduate and undergraduate programs in education including 12 master's, 11 doctoral, and three educational specialists degree programs.
