How to Grade a Discussion Board in Blackboard

Setting Up the Grades

  Log into your Blackboard course. Click on the link for the discussion board.

  Find the discussion forum you want to grade and click on the "Modify" button to bring up the settings. Scroll down to find the grade settings. Grade the forum and enter the number of points you want the discussion forum to be worth or grade individual threads and add the points later.

  Click on the "Submit" button to return to the discussion board.

Grading a Forum

  Locate the discussion forum you want to grade, if you chose that option. Click on the icon that appears under the "Grade" column to bring up a list of the students.

  Click on the "Grade" button next to each student. Enter the number of points the student earned into the grade field and click on "Submit."

  Click on the "OK" button to return to the grade list.

Grading Individual Threads

  Locate and click on the forum with the threads you wish to grade, if you chose that option. Click on the "Enable" button for each thread to enter the number of points the thread is worth and click on 'Submit' to go back to the forum.

  Click on the icon that appears under the "Grade" column for each thread you want to grade. You will see a list of students. Click on the "Grade" button next to each student.

  Enter the number of points the student has earned into the grade field and click on "Submit." Click on the "OK" button to return to the grade list.
