How Would I Cite the Movie Juno for an Assignment?

If you are taking a film class and need to quote the movie "Juno" for your term paper, you must include a full bibliographic citation within the works cited page at the end of your paper. You should also cite the film briefly on the page. If you are using Modern Language Association (MLA) citation style, cite the film parenthetically within the text. If you are using Chicago citation style, list bibliographic information in a footnote.

Instructions

  1. Chicago Style

    • 1

Insert a superscripted number within the text to direct your reader to the footnote at the bottom of the page.

    • 2

Begin your footnote with a number that corresponds to the superscripted number that appears in the page. The footnote should be positioned at the bottom of the page. Arrange your first footnote from "Juno" as follows:

      1. Juno (in italics), directed by Jason Reitman (2007; Los Angeles, CA: 20th Century Fox, 2008), DVD.

For subsequent citations, you need only list the title of the film. For example:

      2. Juno (in italics)

    • 3

Format your bibliography entry as follows:

Juno (in italics). Directed by Jason Reitman. 2007. Los Angeles, CA: 20th Century Fox, 2008. DVD.

    MLA Style

    • 4

List the title of the film in italics, within parentheses.

    • 5

Position your parenthetical citation directly after quoting from "Juno" in the text. However, if you mention the film by name in your sentence, it is unnecessary to cite it parenthetically as well.

    • 6

Format your works cited entry as follows:

Juno (in italics). Dir. Jason Reitman. Perf. Ellen Paige and Michael Cera. 2007. 20th Century Fox, 2008. DVD.
