How to Cite a National Review Magazine in MLA

National Review is a politically conservative news magazine that is published on a biweekly basis. If you quote or paraphrase from a National Review article, you must cite parenthetically within the text of your paper as well as provide full bibliographic information in the works-cited page. Follow the general guidelines for citing a magazine article as published by the MLA (Modern Language Association).

Instructions

    • 1

Cite the last name of the author and the page number within the text directly after quoting or paraphrasing. For example: One author claims that the state of education in Mississippi is "so terrible that even the wealthy are not being schooled" (Jones 19).

    • 2

Do not repeat the name of the author in your parenthetical citation if you mention it within the text. For example: Jones claims that the state of education in Mississippi is "so terrible that even the wealthy are not being schooled" (19).

    • 3

Format your works cited entry in the following format:

Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article." Title of Magazine in italics Day Month Year: Page Numbers. Medium of publication. For example: Jones, Elise. "Education in the Gulf." National Review 13 Nov. 2005: 16-29. Print.
