The University of Kansas offers a special scholarship for students interested in living on campus at reduced rates. There are 12 student housing scholarship halls, which require a student filling out an application for a scholarship for residence in a dorm hall. Scholarships are based on grade-point averages and test scores, financial need and involvement within one's community or school system. If residents are accepted, they live at reduced rates within a cooperative living environment, participating in the cleaning and cooking within their dorm hall. Priority is given to those applications received before March 1 each year and applicants are notified of their placement starting in April.

The National Leased Housing Association developed and supports an educational fund made available to students who are low income individuals residing in federally assisted rental housing that's associated with the National Leased Housing Association. Students who are recipients of Section 8 vouchers may also apply, but all who do apply need to demonstrate need and merit for the scholarship or grant. The Neil Churchill Memorial Scholarship and the AIMCO Cares Opportunity Scholarship are available to graduating seniors or undergraduates who show merit and financial need. The William F. Gandert Memorial Scholarship is available to those who show need and merit within a specific field or area. The Mary Lou Manzie Memorial Scholarship is available to a non-traditional student to offer an opportunity to better her education. Contact the association for more information regarding an application and due dates.

The National Italian American Foundation has a budget of approximately $1 million to spend on scholarships and grants for Italian American students for the school year. It has several scholarships and grant opportunities. These scholarships or grant monies may be used for tuition, room and board or other school-related expenses. Scholarship evaluators are not provided the applicants' names, addresses or other distinguishing information, with applications based on academics, area of study and the applicant's potential and commitment while preforming within their desired area of study. However, some applications are set aside and dispersed based on several factors as well as financial need. Check with the foundation each year because money and the application process may change.
