To be eligible, students must have at least an unweighted 3.3 GPA, be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. institution and qualify for a Pell Grant. The amount of money a student will receive is based upon financial need and is intended to help cover tuition, fees, books and living expenses. After achieving an undergraduate degree, Gates Scholars are eligible to apply for continued funding if they are pursuing graduate study in certain fields, including public health or science.
