Through Case Western Reserve University's Office for Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE), the university offers comprehensive support to students engaged in a senior capstone project. Students have the opportunity to partner with the local community to conduct their projects or research, and there are several funding opportunities available. Experiential Learning Fellowships support a range of undergraduate student projects, including capstone projects, and Phi Beta Kappa research grants through the local Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

American University requires all students enrolled in its Honors Program to complete a senior capstone project, but it also directly provides funding for students to assist with their research. Capstone projects range from completing the manuscript of a novel to curating a museum exhibit. The University Honors Program awards grants on a competitive basis to cover any out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the student's completion of the capstone project. Awards are determined based on the merit of the project and how grant money would enhance its value.
