Capstone Grants

Capstone grants offer funding for students engaged in a "capstone" project during their final year of college or university, or for professionals or organizations engaged in a culminating special project. Funding is typically allocated based on a combination of financial need and the merit of the project. Opportunities are available by individual universities, for student projects or through independent organizations in a field related to the nature of the project.
  1. Case Western Reserve University

    • Through Case Western Reserve University's Office for Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE), the university offers comprehensive support to students engaged in a senior capstone project. Students have the opportunity to partner with the local community to conduct their projects or research, and there are several funding opportunities available. Experiential Learning Fellowships support a range of undergraduate student projects, including capstone projects, and Phi Beta Kappa research grants through the local Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

    American University

    • American University requires all students enrolled in its Honors Program to complete a senior capstone project, but it also directly provides funding for students to assist with their research. Capstone projects range from completing the manuscript of a novel to curating a museum exhibit. The University Honors Program awards grants on a competitive basis to cover any out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the student's completion of the capstone project. Awards are determined based on the merit of the project and how grant money would enhance its value.
