MBA Capstone Projects

The MBA capstone is the project that will complete your graduate school experience. It is essentially the thesis project of business school. Normally it involves a comprehensive essay on some part of the business world that is emerging and requires new insight. As a student, you will observe and record this information to make a contribution to business academia. The capstone project tests the student's insight into the business world and practical application of theory.
  1. Getting Started

    • Set an appointment with your adviser to discuss the project you'd like to pursue for your capstone project. Provide a minimum of four topics you'd like to research. Review these topics beforehand.

Gaining Adviser Approval of Your Topic

    • Meet with your adviser and present these topics. After seeking his input, choose a topic with the adviser's approval.

    Researching, Formatting and Writing

    • Research and develop your topic into a 50-to-200-page research paper. Using APA format, preview the paper with other academic authorities in your area before presenting it to your panel.

    Advanced Copies and Proofing

    • Provide an advanced copy to your adviser for review. Present and represent the paper to her for approval before doing the final capstone presentation. When your adviser is ready for the presentation, your capstone project is ready to defend.

    Defending Your Capstone Project

    • Defend your MBA capstone project before your academic panel. Explain your ideas, help them understand why this advances the business world and the academic world. If you have implemented each part of this correctly, you should receive a passing grade.
