How do you accreded your high school diploma?

There are two main ways to accredit your high school diploma:

1. Accreditation Through a Regional Accrediting Association

The United States has six regional accrediting associations that evaluate and accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities. Each association has its own criteria for accreditation, but generally schools must meet standards for student achievement, curriculum, faculty, and resources.

If your high school is accredited by a regional accrediting association, your diploma will be widely recognized by colleges, universities, and employers.

2. Accreditation Through a National Accrediting Association

In addition to regional accrediting associations, there are also a number of national accrediting associations that accredit high schools. National accrediting associations typically focus on specific types of schools, such as online schools, private schools, or religious schools.

High school diplomas accredited by national accrediting associations may not be as widely recognized as diplomas accredited by regional accrediting associations, but they can still be valid for college admission and employment.

It is important to note that not all high schools are accredited. If you are not sure whether or not your high school is accredited, you can contact your school's administration or visit the website of the relevant regional or national accrediting association.

If you have a high school diploma but it is not accredited, you may be able to get it accredited by taking an equivalency exam. The General Educational Development (GED) test is the most common equivalency exam, and it is accepted by most colleges, universities, and employers.

Once you have obtained an accredited high school diploma, you will be able to apply to college or university, or start a career.
