Are points subtracted for wrong answers on the sat?

Yes, points are subtracted for incorrect answers on the SAT. This is known as the "guessing penalty." For each multiple-choice question, students receive one point for selecting the correct answer and lose one-quarter of a point for selecting an incorrect answer. Omitting a question (i.e. no answer selected) does not result in any penalty.
