Brush up on your math skills and knowledge of mathematical concepts. Questions generally focus on arithmetic, algebra and geometry.
Employ the process of elimination. This is a terrific strategy for multiple-choice questions. Scan the answers and identify those that you know are incorrect. You can quickly eliminate them, increasing your chances of choosing the right answer.
Read questions carefully. Make sure you understand exactly what the question is asking. Use a pencil to mark up the question if necessary--sometimes underlining key words or phrases helps you focus on the important information.
Use your calculator. Graphic, scientific and 4-function calculators are allowed for the SAT math section.
Remember to use your test book as scratch paper when you take the SAT. This is often easier than trying to solve the problems in your head, plus you can go back and recheck your work if you have time at the end.
Get a good SAT study guide with sample questions. Familiarize yourself with the directions for the multiple-choice section. Use the sample questions to get a feel the types of questions you'll encounter. You will be working under timed conditions on test day, so be sure to practice the sample questions under timed conditions too.
