Remember that you don't need to memorize any formulas for the test. The test book has a list of commonly used formulas at the beginning of the section.
Read test problems carefully. Identify what the question is asking.
Practice with scratch paper. You can use your SAT test book as scratch paper during the actual test.
Bring a calculator for the mathematics questions. Approved calculators include graphing, scientific and 4-function calculators.
Use a list of advanced topics to determine what to study. Many SAT test websites have a thorough list of the topics included in the mathematics section.
Learn to use the process of elimination. If you don't know the answer to a multiple-choice question, dismiss the answers that you know are not correct. You improve your chances of selecting the right response.
Purchase a good SAT study guide. Many guides will provide you with sample questions and answers so you become familiar with the format of the questions and the directions. This is especially important for the student-produced response question section. Study guides also provide you with additional test taking strategies.
