TAKS blueprints outline the content covered on each test, the number and type of questions, and how answers to those questions will be evaluated.
TAKS information books build on the blueprints with extensive information on the test objectives and how students will be assessed. Information books also include multiple sample questions, which students can use to practice.
Scoring rubrics for each TAKS test outline how the test will be graded. Grades on the TAKS writing test range from one (worst) to four (best).
TEA publishes thorough TAKS Study Guides that include studying and test-taking tips, practice questions and other helpful material. The guides are available in PDF format for free download on the TEA website. Pearson Access also offers online PDFs, as well as interactive versions of the study guides.
By law, TEA must publish previously used, official TAKS tests every three years. For each TAKS writing test released, TEA also provides a scoring key and sample compositions.
