The Types of CLEP Exams

CLEP is the College Level Examination Program. This program allows students to study and take exams on different subjects. Once the student successfully passes a CLEP exam, that student will not need to take the course in college. This allows a student to test out of classes, which can saves the students money in the long run. Different colleges accept different CLEP exams, so its important students research their individual college's requirements before taking an exam.
  1. Composition and Literature

    • The CLEP exams in Composition and Literature are: American Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, College Composition and College Composition Modular, English Composition, English Literature, Freshman College Composition and Humanities.

    Foreign Languages

    • The CLEP offers exams in French Language, Levels 1 and 2; German Language, Levels 1 and 2; and Spanish Language, Levels 1 and 2.

    History and Social Service

    • History and Social Service CLEP exams are: American Government, Human Growth and Development, Introduction to Educational Psychology, Introductory Psychology, Introductory Sociology, Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Social Sciences and History, History of the United States I: Early Colonization to 1877, History of the United States II: 1865 to the Present, Western Civilization I: Ancient Near East to 1648 and Western Civilization II: 1648 to the Present.

    Science and Mathematics

    • The Science and Mathematics CLEP exams are: Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, College Algebra, College Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Pre-Calculus.

    Business

    • The Business CLEP exams are: Financial Accounting, Introductory Business Law, Information Systems and Computer Applications, Principles of Management and Principles of Marketing.
