Start studying well in advance; the MME is given in the spring of each year, so begin preparation at the beginning of your junior year. Choose a quiet area, free of distractions. Work in frequent, brief periods. After an hour or two, little new information is retained, while frequent repetition reinforces learning.
Access the ACT website. Purchase "ACT Online Prep" or "The Real ACT Prep Guide with CD," or use the free resources listed on the website, such as the "ACT Practice Question of the Day." Enter the "Practice Test Questions" area to complete questions online and check the answers. Download a PDF version of "Preparing for the ACT," which includes practice tests with scoring keys and a writing section.
Access the MME website to obtain even more practice tests, including the "Preparing for the WorkKeys Assessment" booklet, available for download. The booklet includes detailed information about the test as well as practice tests and answers.
Visit your school guidance counselor or inquire with teachers about test preparation materials. Many schools provide study help, including retired ACT tests ordered from the ACT. Call the ACT Customer Services at 319-337-1429 to inquire about purchasing your own.
Purchase the Real ACT Prep Guide through the ACT or in a bookstore. Published by the ACT, it contains three tests, including a writing test, as well as explanations.
