How to Cite in the MLA Style From a Textbook

The research paper is due. The dissertation writing has to be perfect. The high school senior paper must be submitted no later than next week. All are realistic thoughts of students in all facets of learning. The common requirement for each is the method taken to document information gathered from several sources, the Modern Language Association (MLA) style. This method provides guidelines for all types of sources of information such as magazines, websites, interviews, newspaper articles and textbooks.

Instructions

  1. One Author Textbook

    • 1

      Write the author's last name first and then last name. For example, English, James.

    • 2

      Write next to the author's name the title of the textbook and underline the title.

    • 3

      Write next to the underlined title the city where the book was published.

    • 4

      Indicate the name of the publisher and the publication date. For example, Author House, 1999.

    • 5

      Write down the medium of publication. For example, Print.

    More Than One Author

    • 6

      Write the first author's name in last name, first name format. For example, Brown, Ellis.

    • 7

      Write the additional author's name in first name and last name format. For example, Jeff Brown and Marci Green.

    • 8

      Follow Steps 2 through 5 in Section 1.
