Pre-K Ideas for a Summer Bulletin Board

Keep summertime learning fun by incorporating summer themes into preschool bulletin board sets at camps and daycares. This is the time of year when kids are outside the most; emphasis should be on outdoor activities and safety. Focus on teaching through pictures.
  1. Swimming Safety

    • Children like to cool off in the water in the summer. Show children being safe while swimming in pools, lakes and oceans. Include pictures of safety instructors, such as lifeguards.

    Traffic Safety

    • Children love to ride bikes and scooters in the summer. Emphasize the safety of wearing helmets with pictures of children riding safely. Show pictures of children safely crossing the street and obeying traffic laws. Include safe adults, such as police officers and crossing guards.

    Stranger Danger

    • Being outside more frequently brings about more opportunities for children to be approached by strangers. Include pictures of children protecting themselves from strangers, and include forceful words, such as "NO!" that the children can use when approached by a stranger.

    Bugs and Creepy Crawlies

    • Children love to explore the creepy crawlies they can find in their outdoor environment. Include pictures and names of all kinds of creatures.

    Growing Gardens

    • Children love to plant and to be responsible for growing things. Include the life cycle of the plant, flower, fruit or vegetable. Label pictures of common plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables; be sure to include places to find them.

    Vacation Destinations

    • Make a collage of the kids' favorite vacation destinations, including places they are actually going. Have them bring in postcards, souvenirs and pictures of their vacations.
