Preschool Educational Grants

The early childhood years provide the foundation life skills that are crucial to success in later life. As part of its commitment to ensure that children get the proper support they need to succeed in school, the U.S. government awards grants to qualified preschools and early childhood centers. Foundations and private entities also provide another source of grants for preschool education initiatives.
  1. Preschool Grants for Children with Disabilities

    • Also known as Special Education Preschool Grants, this program aims to serve three to five year-old children with disabilities and special needs by ensuring that they have access to special education and other services like physical and occupational therapy, psychological services and counseling for parents. Together with the Special Education State Grants, it benefits the states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Early Intervention Program for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities

    • This is another program funded by the U.S. government. Also known as Grants for Infants and Families, it aids states in implementing early intervention to infants and toddlers with disabilities. It provides funding for the assessment and diagnosis of children and the identification of appropriate services to assist them and their families.

The Target Early Childhood Reading Grants

    • As part of the Target company’s community outreach, it commits five percent of its income to the communities it serves. The Target Early Childhood Reading Grants are awarded to schools, libraries, and other nonprofit organizations that embark on initiatives that will promote early literacy.

    The Lego Children’s Fund

    • This foundation provides grants to local and international organizations, including educational organizations that undertake initiatives aimed at helping children develop creativity and innovative thinking. In order to qualify, interested parties must complete an Eligibility Quiz through the foundation’s website in order to obtain approval and an invitation to submit a proposal.

The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation

    • This foundation supports preschools aiming to implement various projects like those that target literacy, language development and math skills, improve assessment tools and methods, or those that are aimed at identification of children with special needs.
