Taking a field trip to a state park is a great idea for a low-budget field trip. The Hanging Rock State park offers beautiful scenery with five cascading waterfalls, a scenic river and a lake. Children can enjoy activities such as fishing or nature walks on the 15 miles of trails. The park also has three picnic pavilions where children can enjoy a sack lunch, clean restrooms and a visitor's center with exhibits. There are a bounty of programs such as nature study hikes, where children can collect samples of leaves or insects and learn about different plant life.
