Homemade Memory Game

A memory game can serve as an enjoyable game for children while helping them develop memory skills that will serve them for a lifetime. Because memory games require concentration, as a child focuses on remembering where the specific cards are within the playing grid, he develops the skills of short-term memory. Encourage these skills in your child by making a homemade memory game. A memory game does not have to be elaborate or expensive to delight a child.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the index cards in half to provide you with 3-inch by 2 1/2-inch rectangles.

    • 2

Select stickers that will appeal to your child. For example, using jungle animal stickers, construction vehicle stickers, cat stickers or special character stickers will often spark a child's interest and make the memory game more attractive. You must have two identical stickers to create each pair of memory cards.

    • 3

Place one sticker in the center of each rectangle. You must make pairs of cards by placing the same sticker on two different index cards.

    • 4

Continue making pairs of memory cards with identical stickers until you have as many memory card pairs as you desire.
