Providing outside time for daycare children may be required as an everyday activity. Weather permitting, many states require that children play outside at least once every day in an area designated by the daycare facility.
States have specific regulations in terms of outdoor play areas. Depending on your state, you may be required to provide a certain amount of square footage per child at your facility. The state may also require that you fence in the area for safety purposes.
Depending on the circumstances, an outdoor facility may not be required. If your daycare is only part-time, outdoor playtime in a playground provided by the daycare is not always mandatory. Also, depending on the location of the daycare, indoor facilities or local parks may replace the outdoor play area requirement.
