Teach your child the "Letter C Song" which is available on YouTube at the "Have Fun Teaching" website. Sing the "Letter C Song" with your child. It is a very upbeat song that repeats the sounds of the letter C through constant repetition of words that begin with C. It also teaches the child how to write an uppercase and lowercase C and demonstrates the hard and soft sounds of the letter C.
Go on a letter C scavenger hunt to find words and pictures that start with the letter C. Write the letter C at the top of a sheet of paper. Have your child look at a newspaper or magazine to find words and pictures that begin with the letter C. Once she finds an object that starts with the letter C, she will say the name of the object or word aloud. She will then determine if the word is a soft sound or a hard sound. Assist your child with cutting out the words and pictures she finds in the newspaper or magazine and glue them inside a journal or notebook.
Categorize each item that your child found in the periodical after you've finished the "scavenger hunt." Work with your child to arrange your items into letter "C" categories.
Take a walk with your child outside. While walking, allow your child to look for objects that start with the letter C -- such as a car, cat or circle. Also, you can help your child spot objects and places that start with the soft sound of the letter C like the second word in community center.
