Print out coloring sheets that show a letter in the alphabet. Sheets with pictures depicting words that start with that letter can help preschool students begin to recognize the alphabet in words. Apples and alligators for letter "A," baseball bats and boxes for the letter "B," and so on let children visualize the alphabet. Give students crayons to color the pictures.
Sing an alphabet song. Get the extra energy out your young students by getting them singing and dancing. Sing the "ABCs Song" and make up a little choreographed dance number to go along with the dance. Practice singing the ABCs in order with children to help them memorize the song.
Make a letter snake. Cut ovals of multi-colored construction paper and label each shape with a letter. Help your preschool child paste the lettered shapes in order on another sheet of construction paper to create an ABC snake. Glue on a pair of googly eyes at the top oval, and strip of red paper for a tongue.
Create giant flashcards. Use the coloring sheets listing the letters of the alphabet to create big flash cards for little ones. Paste decorated and colored letters onto poster board. Let each letter dry. Hand each child a letter, and go through the alphabet one letter at a time. The child with the letter that is called out should stand up and show the letter for the rest of the class to see.
