Preschool Art Activities With the Letter C

Teaching young children the alphabet in fun ways helps them remember each letter. The letter "C" offers a multitude of activities since it has two sounds -- the hard C as in "carrot" or "cake" and the soft C as in "celery" and "cent." Keep your projects simple to allow the students to focus on the letter and its sound.
  1. Basic Art

    • Cut out large Cs from construction paper and let each child decorate one. Tape two or three crayons together for each student and have them draw multiple colored Cs.

    C Word Cs

    • Give each child a construction paper C to draw or glue on items with names that begin with the letter C. Adhere corn flakes, cotton balls and candy to a construction paper C. Draw pictures of cakes, candles and cars on the letter.

    Magazine Pictures

    • Cut out photos from magazines or catalogs of items with names that begin with the letter C and have the kids glue them onto paper. Have each student say what pictures are in their collage and discuss the hard C or soft C sound.

    C Scenes

    • Ask the students to draw a picture that incorporates three different things that begin with C. For instance, a vegetable scene can include carrots, celery and cucumbers. Include in a Halloween scene items like costumes, candy corn and black cats. Cakes, candles and cups make a good party scene.

    Booklet

    • Create a small booklet featuring different C items to color, including a car, a cat, crayons and clovers. Give one to each child.
