"Glue" two cookies together with chocolate frosting and break four pretzel shapes apart into arcs for spider legs. Dip one end of each pretzel leg into the frosting and stick to the top of the cookie sandwich to create a spider body with eight legs. Adhere two candy-coated chocolate pieces to the edge of the cookies with a dab of icing. Adapt the spider snack to a more healthy option by using peanut butter in lieu of frosting and crackers instead of cookies. Substitute the candy eyes with peanuts.
Toast half of an English muffin for each student and allow her to spread red-tinted cream cheese over it with a plastic butter knife. Drop raisins onto the cream cheese for the ladybug dots. Butterflies are another winged insect commonly discussed among preschool classes. Spread peanut butter into a cleaned piece of celery and insert two pretzels, loops facing outward, into the peanut butter for wings. One pretzel stick broken in half can be inserted into one end of the celery as antennae. Stick raisins in the peanut butter if you choose.
Study the life cycle of a butterfly with a breakfast snack. Wrap a pre-cooked breakfast sausage into a raw crescent roll. Bake the roll according to package directions to create a caterpillar inside his cocoon. Some sausages may have to be fried prior to rolling them into the crescent rolls so use caution to read the package instructions before creating the educational snack for your preschool children.
Worms are often characterized by their slimy outer secretions. Recreate their dirty habitat in a snack for the students. Fill small disposable cups half full with chocolate pudding. In a sealed plastic bag, crush a number of chocolate cookies and spoon the cookie crumbs over the pudding. Garnish with slimy gummy worms to create a worm and its habitat.
Create worms with raw hot dogs for the children. Make slits in each hot dog every 1/4 inch down the entire snack and make the slices about 1/2 inch thick. Turn the hot dog over and repeat with the attempt to slice the dog in the same places so the hot dog is flexible like a worm. Boil the snacks for approximately five minutes or until curvy and place the wriggly worms on a bun with ketchup and mustard to make them slimy.
