Symbolize your graduate's achievement with a diploma that she can eat. Edible diplomas are sandwich wraps made to resemble a rolled diploma. Start with a tortilla or flat bread. Fill it with your graduate's favorite sandwich fixings, like cuts of deli meats, cheeses and lettuce. Roll the wrap tightly so that it looks like a tightly wound diploma. You can then put an actual ribbon around it, or use washed and dried scallions as an edible ribbon.
He's already thrown one graduation hat into the air to celebrate his big day. Try giving him a graduation hat he can eat instead. Bake cupcakes as you normally would, using your favorite cupcake recipe. When they come out, turn them over. Get some food coloring matching the graduate's school colors. Mix this with vanilla frosting and apply this to the top and sides of the cupcake. Put a frosted graham cracker on top of the upside-down cupcake. Try using a small portion of fruit leather as a tassel. Put a piece of candy on top of the tassel in the middle of the graham cracker for a button.
Your graduate will probably want to wash all of this cake and frosting down. Try a graduation-themed punch. Pour a can of thawed frozen fruit juice concentrate into a bowl or pitcher. Pour in ginger ale, stirring gently, until you've reached your desired serving size. Now add in scoops of the graduate's favorite flavor of ice cream and stir.
If your graduate is heading off to college, she might appreciate a dormitory-themed snack. Dorm food is simple fare, usually consisting of quick, easily prepared foods like macaroni and cheese, or hot dogs. Get her into the spirit with these "Dorm-Dogs." You'll need hot dogs, crescent roll dough, eggs and condiments of your choice. Unroll the dough and allow it to rest. Cut the hot dogs into two-inch segments and then slice each segment down the middle. Crack the egg into a bowl and add a small amount of water. Beat the mixture. Dust a table with flour and place the dough on it. Use a roller to roll the dough so that it makes a large rectangle. Use a knife to cut the dough into smaller rectangles, roughly four inches by two inches. Wrap these smaller rectangles around the hot dog segments. Seal the dough with brushed-on egg wash. Put them on a baking sheet in an oven at 450 degrees until they turn golden. Serve with the condiments.
